Nokia 8 launch set for August 16

The first flagship smartphone to bear the Nokia name in years looks like it’s nearly here, after an invite for an event on August 16 was sent out to media – and we expect to see the Nokia 8 launched there.

There’s no question that a new handset will be launched, with the invite reading: “HMD Global invites you to an exclusive gathering to unveil the next milestone for Nokia phones.”

The Nokia 8 has been rumored for months, but the leaks and speculation are due to come to an end in just a few weeks.

A true flagship offering?

The latest rumors suggest the Nokia 8 will boast a 5.3-inch QHD display, full metal body, dual 13MP rear cameras developed in partnership with Zeiss, a Snapdragon 835 chipset and 4GB or 6GB of RAM.

Those specs would put the Nokia 8 in line with top phones such as the HTC U11, OnePlus 5, LG G6 and Samsung Galaxy S8.

TechRadar will be reporting live from the London based event on August 16 to bring you the latest from HMD Global – the Finnish firm behind the current line of Nokia branded smartphones.
