NeoGAF Offline Amidst Allegations of Sexual Assault by Owner

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Popular gaming forum NeoGAF is down
  • This comes after allegations of sexual assault by its owner
  • Moderators and users have left en masse

Popular video game forum NeoGAF is now offline. This comes amidst allegations of sexual assault by its owner Tyler “Evilore” Malka. NeoGAF’s moderators have resigned en masse and a host of members have left the site.

Sexual assault allegations have been swirling around Malka for the better part of the week after a screenshot of a Facebook post was made public. It details an account of a woman traumatised by a man she was friends with. On being asked to name the man she replied with, “Google Evilore.”

Every time a post regarding this has come up on NeoGAF, it has been immediately removed. Malka is reportedly in the process of issuing a statement.

This isn’t the first time Malka has been accused of sexual assault. Allegations of such behaviour had also surfaced in 2012.

NeoGAF started in 2004 as a spin-off to the forums on gaming site Gaming-Age, which was the original GAF. Over the years, it has become the go to place for enthusiast gamers, industry insiders, developers, and journalists alike.

So much so, that a host of news and leaks over the years were made public on NeoGAF first before hitting other sites such as this one. With no one left to run NeoGAF, its future seems to be jeopardy.

“I don’t know how the site will continue considering everyone who worked on it has left. This coming amidst the Harvey Weinstein debacle has indeed had an a impact,” a long-time GAF member tells Gadgets 360. “A lot of members have resorted to creating subreddits and Discord groups. I’m waiting a month to see which ones are worth joining.”
