Dyson Pure Cool Me: Dyson unveils cheaper, smaller air-purifying fan

The Pure Cool Me will simultaneously clean and cool the air around you

Dyson has today unveiled the Pure Cool Me air-purifying fan – the latest in a line of home technology products that the company hopes will positively impact consumers’ wellbeing.

The concept is pretty simple: the Pure Cool Me will pass the air in your home through an activated carbon and glass HEPA (high-efficiency particulate air) layer, which Dyson claims will capture 99.95% of dirty and unwanted particles.

The Pure Cool Me then turns from an air purifier into a cooling fan, as the clean air is then recycled back into the room at a colder temperature.

The convex dome at the top of the Pure Cool Me creates a high-pressure, precise stream of air, which Dyson is labelling “Core Flow” technology. You can change the direction of the stream to suit your needs by adjusting the dome manually.

Other features include a 70-degree oscillation setting, a sleep timer, built-in reminders to show when your air filter needs changing and an LCD screen that displays airflow speed, modes and filter life.

In recent years, Dyson has branched out from focusing solely on vacuum cleaners to developing products that give consumers greater control of their personal surroundings and environment.

This renewed focus on wellbeing is evidenced by the simultaneous release of the Pure Cool Me alongside an all-new Lightcycle task light that adjusts brightness depending on the time of day, as well as a new intelligent vacuum cleaner in the form of the Dyson V11.

Indeed, Dyson hopes that the three products together will “combine hardware and software…to solve real problems and support your wellbeing”.

One thing the Pure Cool Me will negatively impact, however, is your wallet. The new device starts at £300 – pretty steep for what is essentially a personal cooling fan, but a damn sight cheaper than the original Dyson Pure Cool tower fan, which will currently set you back around £500.

You can order one right now from Dyson’s website and, if you order before 7pm, it should be delivered the next day.
